Engineering Excellence: How JHS and groninger’s Partnership Powers Pharmaceutical Innovation and Community Growth
Jubilant HollisterStier CMO (JHS) is proud of our ongoing and vital partnership with groninger, a leading manufacturer of state-of-the-art filling machines for the pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare industries. Our collaborative relationship has been foundational to our Line 3 and Line 4 expansion projects, and we share the same commitment to quality, innovation, speed to market, and continuous learning and improvement. From the early planning stages to equipment installation, training, and the maintenance life cycle, our partnership with groninger enables us to deliver safe and effective treatments to patients around the world.
Like JHS, groninger prioritizes relationship building, long-term strategic thinking, and continuous support when forming partnerships. To determine what equipment and solutions we would need, groninger took the time to understand what was driving our ongoing expansion projects. JHS engineers and leadership toured groninger’s headquarters in Crailsheim, Germany, as well as their facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. Together, we decided the integra would best meet the needs of our clients from line capabilities as well as aftersales support. The integra is a fully integrated aseptic bulk fill-finish vial line with isolator. The system processes vials with minimal product loss and uses IPC (in-process control) testing to verify product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
Once selecting the integra line, JHS checked in frequently as groninger built and tested the equipment. After groninger installed the equipment at our Spokane site, their experts helped train the operators to instill confidence in our team members who would be hands-on with the new equipment. Our Line 3 featuring the integra is now scheduling time with our clients, and its duplicate Line 4 is scheduled to open in 2026.
JHS and groninger’s partnership goes beyond a one-time equipment installation and includes maintenance services, tech upgrades, parts replacement, ongoing collaborative meetings to ensure everything is running smoothly, and more. groninger engineers work with JHS to update, modernize, and adapt existing systems and equipment to widen the range of sterile injectables, vaccines, biologics, and other therapeutics JHS can create for our clients.
Both groninger and JHS value community engagement and have invested in their respective local regions. groninger runs an apprenticeship program to recruit and train technicians from the Charlotte region that offers graduates full-time employment. Likewise, JHS is piloting a certification program to attract local talent with Spokane Community College. Upon the completion of our Lines 3 and 4, we estimate adding a total of 400 new jobs around the Spokane, Washington area.
JHS and groninger’s shared vision and dedication to bringing Line 3 and Line 4 to life represents a true partnership for excellence, innovation, and positive community impact. We look forward to continuing our collaborative relationship as we at JHS continue to manufacture high-quality sterile injectables and other therapeutics on behalf of our partners.
